About KarunaAI
Built so no pet owner is left on hold.
KarunaAI is after-hours and emergency phone contact, purpose-built for veterinary clinics. We exist because the average clinic misses roughly a third of inbound calls — and behind every missed call (especially after dark) is a worried owner, a sick pet, and a patient who often books with someone else.
Our mission
Calm, capable phone coverage for every clinic, every hour.
Reception in a veterinary clinic is one of the hardest front-line jobs in healthcare. The phone rings during a consult. A worried owner calls about a dog that ate a grape. A regular wants to push their booking by an hour. A first-time client is comparing three clinics on a Tuesday lunch break.
Most of those calls go unanswered or ring out to voicemail. The pet owner moves on. The clinic loses revenue, the patient loses care, and the receptionist who eventually finds the missed-call list feels worse about a job they already love.
KarunaAI exists to take that whole class of problem off the table — without replacing the warm, human-led front desk that makes good clinics great.
How we think
Four principles behind every call we answer.
Empathy is engineered, not optional
A scared pet owner deserves a calm, clear voice. We tune our models for warmth and pace because the worst version of voice AI in healthcare is one that sounds like a sales-bot.
Safety beats novelty
We are a communications tool, not a vet. Red-flag triage, human escalation, and a configurable emergency protocol are core to the product, not features.
It has to fit the way clinics already work
Google Calendar, SMS, and owner email summaries today — with native PMS write-back (ezyVet, RxWorks, Provet) on the roadmap. The goal is zero double-handling for reception.
Pricing should be predictable
One clinic plan with included minutes and clear overage. Vet clinics already deal with enough surprises; their phone bill should not be one of them.
What KarunaAI is — and isn't
Honest about scope.
What we are
- A 24/7 phone front-end for inbound vet calls.
- A booking engine that writes back to your PMS.
- A triage layer that escalates emergencies to humans.
- A transcript and dashboard so the team has full context.
- A predictable, per-location subscription.
What we are not
- A replacement for your reception team.
- A clinical decision-maker or diagnostic tool.
- A pay-per-call lead-gen service.
- A general-purpose voice bot retrofitted for vets.
- A black box — you can hear and read every call.
Revenue calculator
Where the default numbers come from
The on-site calculator uses conservative starting points so the model does not feel "too good to be true": we default to 15% of inbound calls missed (many clinics report higher peaks; you can slide up) and 45% of recovered calls converting to a booked consult (below optimistic industry anecdotes).
Our qualitative research draws on structured interviews and surveys with 80+ Australian veterinary clinic owners and managers (2024–2025) about after-hours load, front-desk capacity, and revenue leakage from unanswered calls. Figures on the marketing site are illustrative — your clinic should substitute its own call logs and PMS reports.
We can provide a one-page methodology PDF under NDA for serious buyers — book a demo to request it.
Where we are
Australia-first, by design.
KarunaAI is built for the way Australian vet clinics actually run — AVA-aligned triage prompts, Google Calendar booking today, GST-friendly pricing, and Sydney-region data hosting. Native PMS integrations are in active development for clinics that need them.
